For those of you that don’t know, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The purpose of this month specifically is to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. The campaign also offers information and support to those affected by breast cancer. So throughout the month of October, we here at BB Insurance Marketing will be sharing inspirational stories to shed a light on this devastating disease. So all this month, make sure you wear pink, donate to and speak out about breast cancer.

Breast Cancer Awareness in the News

– Cities in Miami-Dade will be painting buses, garbage trucks and police cars pink to show support for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. (via Miami Herald)

– Scientists in New York have reported that they have been able to place breast cancer into four different classes. Scientists believe that this classing system will lead to a multitude of more effective treatments, including using all of the resources that they have now. (via Miami Herald)

– For National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Breast Health Center & Diagnostic Ultrasound in Miami, FL will be giving out free breast cancer screenings on October 8th, from 8am to 3pm for people age 40 and older. (via Miami Herald)

– This story showcases how the NFL and their players go pink to support breast cancer awareness month. Players and coaches wear everything from hats to chin guards to support the cause. (via Business Insider)

– Social media has decided to go pink as well. A social network for women with breast cancer called “MyBreastCancerTeam” has launched for women to share stories, feelings and support. This article also shows all the promotions different companies are using to support breast cancer on the web. For example, Facebook has launched a timeline app called “20 years of courage” dedicated to breast cancer awareness month and its history. (via Yahoo! News)
