Technology Tuesday: New iPad Mini Looks To Shake Up The Tablet Market

Category: Blog

In last week’s blog, I mentioned the potential release of a newer smaller version of Apple’s iPad could be imminent. Well just like myself and many speculators thought, Apple released the details of their new iPad mini and other gadgets today at their event in San Jose. Along with the smaller version of the iPad, Apple also plans to release a newer Macbook Pro, new Mac mini, and a newer version of the iMac computer as well. Click below to see all the details about Apple’s latest launch.

Experts believe that Apple released this smaller and more monetarily friendly version of the iPad to compete with similar mid-sized tablets such as Google’s Nexus 7, Amazon’s Kindle Fire and the Barnes and Noble Nook HD. The new iPad mini will have a 7.9 inch display screen, and at 10.9 ounces, the iPad mini is less than half the weight of the full-size iPad. It is also just 0.28 of an inch thick! Some other new features are the lightning connector (first used on the iPhone 5), 5 megapixel camera and 720p front-facing FaceTime camera as well.

The iPad mini’s price is clearly the most appealing feature. It starts at $329 for the Wi-Fi only version with 16GB capacity. Check out this link here to see all the pictures and information from today’s event. The iPad mini, along with other new Apple products, should be in high demand this holiday season as they look to bounce back in quarterly sales this upcoming year.
