Sports Update Monday: Dolphins Done, Heat Hurt & BBIMI Goes Golfing!
Dolphins Playoff Status in Jeopardy
The only thing consistent about the Dolphins the past three years is their inability to win when it matters most. And year-over-year improvement? That dream probably died here Sunday. New England scored a franchise-record 24 points in the third quarter to smoke Miami 41-13, dropping the Dolphins to 7-7 and gravely imperiling Philbin’s future with the organization. The Dolphins’ playoff hopes are now basically zero. They have been outscored 69-26 the past two weeks in two de facto playoff games.
Heat Have the Injury Bug Bad
An already injury-riddled Heat team absorbed two significant blows Monday, with Josh McRoberts likely lost for the season to a right knee injury and All-Star center Chris Bosh sidelined indefinitely with a strained calf. The lack of continuity in the line-up has had a crippling effect on the Heat, whose preferred starting lineup of Chris Bosh, Josh McRoberts, Dwyane Wade, Norris Cole and Luol Deng has played only a total of 34 minutes this season. Despite those initial struggles, Miami was hoping to use an upcoming, seven-game homestand — highlighted by the Christmas Day visit from LeBron James and the Cavaliers — to gain some traction. Head coach Eric Spoelstra said he would meet with team president Pat Riley and general manager Andy Elisburg to figure out what personnel options the Heat might consider to supplement the roster.
BBIMI Golfing Day a Success
This past Thursday, the fine gentlemen of BB Insurance went on their annual Holiday Golfing Day at the Woodmont Country Club in Tamarac. It’s always great to get out of the office and enjoy the links/great outdoors with just the guys. Even though we spent the day laughing and enjoying each other’s company, we obviously held a friendly competition between the two teams. The team of Jason, Frank, Barry, Joel & Michael edged out the team of Lee, Josh, Eric, Dan & David by three strokes! Win or lose, it was still a great time had by all involved.
